Josyane Savigneau began working at Le Monde in 1977 and since 1983 has worked at Le Monde des Livres, which she managed from 1991 to 2005. She was also editor-in-chief of the culture department from 1995 to 2002. She is now responsible of the monthly magazine. She is the author of two biographies: Marguerite Yourcenar, l’invention d’une vie (Gallimard, 1990) and Carson McCullers, un coeur de jeune fille (Stock, 1995) and of an autobiographical story, Point de côté (Stock, 2008).
