Featuring : Adèle Van Reeth, Paul Audi
Have you ever seen Sartre, Bachelard, or Arendt on TV? Are the social sciences or philosophy compatible with television? In this era of zapping, how much room can this medium devote to developing complex thought? In short, can one think on the boob tube?
The archives of the French National Audiovisual Institute (INA) prove that one can. They are full of images from shows involving informed directors and journalists talking to philosophers, sociologists, scientists, etc.
The INA and Mode d’emploi will use a technique proven successful for literature at the International Forum on the Novel: a philosopher will be invited to put into perspective the ideas expressed by her peers in excerpts that will form a montage lasting about twenty minutes. This technique will be repeated for a new discipline every year: history, geography, sociology, anthropology, and more. Come watch to know!
