Richard Sennett is a sociologist and historian who teaches at the London School of Economics, focuses in particular on contemporary societies (urbanism, architecture, morals, labor, etc.). In La Chair et la Pierre: le corps et la ville dans la civilisation occidentale (translated by Z. Andreyev, Verdier, 2002), he explains that our cities do not sufficiently accommodate the human body.
