Has it disappeared? Has it been displaced, or has it changed? We are always told that authority has either disappeared or is coming back center-stage. While it is a form of power of which we must sometimes be wary, we must nonetheless wonder whether authority is not essential to creating meaning within life and politics. Through the study of several texts, Avital Ronell will invite us to ponder the role, definition, and necessity of authority in our contemporary societies.
