Ever since the allegory of Plato’s cave, philosophy and fiction have always had a particular relationship. Today, zombies, cyborgs or other less peculiar characters abound within the reflections of a new generation of philosophers. Demonstrations are interwoven with tales, language is shaped to serve ideas, characters lay the foundation for concepts.
Why must philosophy sometimes resort to fables or tales in order to cultivate theoretical reasoning? How can fiction enlighten us about reality?
