Andriy Portnov is a historian and professor at Humboldt University in Berlin. He observes and provides critical analyses of the political situation in Ukraine, using history to explain current events. Formerly editor-in-chief of the newspaper Ukraina Moderna, he is currently writing a “biography” of the little-known city of Dnipropetrovsk.
