A “new economy” seems poised to replace the old ways of exchanging material goods – an economy where attention would be the rarest and most valuable resource. Beyond the debates triggered by this hypothesis that implies a radical reversal in our economic logic, we must shift the framework of the issue from economy to ecology. Sustaining and improving our life forms depends on a greater collective attention paid to environmental problems and on a better organization of our attention environments: a better ecology of attention.
