This is an old yet perfectly up-to-date metaphor, judging from the constant scientific and technical progress being made to help, modify, or amplify humans’ physical abilities. Where, then, should we draw the line between natural and artificial bodies? Though there’s nothing new about the medically equipped body (glasses, crutches, pacemakers, etc.), we need to take a fresh look at it.
