One day at Sciences Po Lyon : The government of emotions

Rue Charles Appleton
Lyon 7e
In partnership with Sciences Po Lyon and Triangle.
It all starts with one observation: to describe political actions as well as our relationship to politics, journalists, and even public opinion, resort to using language rooted in emotion. Fear, sadness, anger, resentment, and joy are all evoked to describe a vote, an international summit, a campaign, etc. Drawing on a certain positivist heritage, social sciences have recommended, in several instances, to keep emotions at bay. This time is long past however, and emotions are making a comeback. The question is now to evaluate the role emotions play in how information is processed, as well as in power relations.
You can still show up on the day of the event and take advantage of any last-minute withdrawals.
