Biography

Hidetaka Ishida is a philosopher and specialist in French literature and mediology, as well as one of the translators of Michel Foucault into Japanese. A graduate of the French Literature department of the University of Tokyo and holder of a Ph.D. from the University of Paris-X, since 1992 he has been a member of the professorial corps in Todai. In this capacity he participated in putting together the Interschool Initiative for Information Studies in 2000 and acted as its dean from 2009 to 2012. Since April 2012 he has been vice-director (University Deputy Librarian) of the University and of the “New Library” Project.
