Thought, economy and society (Fayard, 1984, and Verso, 1986), undoubtedly one of the most noteworthy texts ever written that examines what constitutes the foundation for societies. He has also left his mark in the field of social sciences and the humanities through his involvement in the process of structuring research, and has always been regarded as a highly-esteemed teacher and an internationally-renowned anthropologist.
