Biography

Teresa Giménez-Candela has an LL.B. and Ph.D. (Special Prize for Merit) in Law from the Universidad de Navarra, Pamplona. She completed her thesis in Roman studies under the supervision of Alvaro d’Ors, who introduced her to Legal Epigraphy. Since 1985, she has regularly attended courses and seminars at the Leopold Wenger Institut of the Ludwig Maximilians Universität, München,
where she worked under the supervision of Dieter Nörr, developing her interests in other fields of the Ancient World, such as economy and sociology. She also spent a very fruitful period studying Ancient History and Latin Epigraphy, under the supervision of Gèza Alföldy at the Institut für Alte Geschichte of the Universität Heidelberg, where she frequently assisted the
Papyrology seminars directed by Dieter Hagedorn. Since graduation, she has occupied various teaching posts on Roman Law in different Universities. She is the Director of the Master in Animal Law and Society which started in the academic year 2011-2012 at the University of Barcelona. She is the Director
of the Research Group ADS (Animales, Derecho y Sociedad).
