Through the arts, discussion, and popular practices that lay new claims to the French Revolution and by misappropriating the national heritage by playing with its founding myth and its great men and women, the exhibit questions how the Revolution is imagined within French culture. Far from any scientific or official history, the historical reference establishes a playful but controversial relationship with our contemporary world yet doesn’t lose its liberating force, which might manifest at any moment.
