Anthropologists have discovered that not all human beings have the same understanding of what existing or coming into the world means for them and for those around them. In other words, ontologies differ. Is there a neutral way to study and compare these varying philosophies of existence, or does comparison necessarily involve a particular point of view? How are we to know which perspective is the “right” one? Is it even possible to make such a determination?
