Biography

Sébastien Charbonnier is a professor of philosophy and holds a doctorate in education sciences. His research concerns issues of philosophy and education as well as the epistemological and political issues of teaching philosophy. In the philosophical tradition, he works mainly on the rich, parallel scope of rationalism and pragmatism to understand what it means to learn to think. He has published a book on Deleuze and the pedagogical scope of his concepts (Deleuze pédagogue, Harmattan). His latest book is a critical analysis of what “philosophy” might mean for us today (Que peut la philosophie?, Seuil). Soon to be published, a book on the concept of “problem” in philosophy, considered to be a practice of liberation: L’Érotisme des problèmes.
