Christophe Ayad in editor-in-chief of the International section of the newspaper Le Monde, that he joined in 2011. He is a specialist of the Middle-East and of Africa. From 1994 to 1999 he was reporter for Libération in Cairo. In 2004 he was awarded with the Albert Londres Prize and the Bayeux Jean-Marie Prize for war reporter. In 2002, he published Géopolitique de l'Egypte (Complexe). He directed two films: Darfour, autopsie d'une tragédie (2007) and Le crépuscule des Assad, (2011) for the French/German channel Arte.
