WRITER
China
Born in the Henan in 1958, Liu Zhenyun is currently one of the People’s Republic of China’s most talked-about authors. In addition to his short stories emblematic of “new realism,” he wrote a trilogy that takes place in the village where he was born and was praised in the 1990s as an important examination of traditional Chinese culture. In 2011 Liu received the Mao Dun prize for En un mot comme en mille (Gallimard, 2013), the key book of his later period.
