Olivier Py is an actor who has performed in theater productions directed by Jean-Luc Lagarce, Pascal Rambert, and Nathalie Schmidt, and in films by Cédric Klapisch, Martin Provost, and Noémie Lvovsky. He is also an author, director, and opera fan. Ten years ago he started directing works such as Tristan und Isold, Carmen, Tales of Hoffmann, and Claude, which was created at the Opéra de Lyon. He has also written several works on the theater and an activist essay, Cultivez votre Tempête (Actes Sud, 2012).
Director of the Centre dramatique national d’Orléans since 1997, he took over the direction of the Odéon-Théâtre de l’Europe in 2007, then of the Avignon Festival in 2013.
