Maxime Ossipov was born in Moscow in 1963 to a family of intellectuals. He studied medicine and, in 1991 (still under the Soviet regime), defended his doctoral dissertation. He then went to the United States to study for a year but, not wanting to prolong his stay, returned to Russia and worked in various institutes and founded a publishing house specializing in the Russian translation of foreign scientific works.
In 2005, feeling the need to be in direct contact with patients, Ossipov decided to move to the provinces and settled in Taroussa. The first account in Ma province deals with the early days of this experience.
