Does literature have the power to keep alive the memory of distant or minority cultures, and to revive these forgotten worlds ? Some novelists choose to borrow the investigative method of the ethnographer or the historian. In an attempt to revisit the reality of colonial history and its aftermath, they attempt to revive cultural worlds that history has shattered. But how can we bring back to life the wealth of those disappearing worlds, by mixing political issues and a poetic approach ?
