Patrick McGuinness was born in Tunisia in 1968 and lived in Romania during the years preceding the fall of the Ceausescu regime. He is a professor of comparative French literature at Oxford University. He has published numerous volumes of poetry, for which he received the Eric Gregory Award and Poetry magazine’s Levinson prize.
His first novel, Les Cents derniers jours, was a finalist for the Man Booker Prize, won the Writers’ Guild Award for best book of fiction and the Wales Book of the Year 2012, and is being adapted for the screen.
