Whether it affects love, politics, friendship, or our professional life, betrayal reveals a secret continent: that of lying and dissimulation. The novelist alone has the keys to this underground world where his characters – traitors and betrayed – struggle. Through the power of his writing, he can access the thoughts of those who rub shoulders, yet do not know each other, as well as the feelings of those that betrayal has destroyed. But whom does the novelist betray ? His characters ? The reader ? Himself ?
