NOVELIST
Portugal
Lídia Jorge has written ten novels since Le Rivage des Murmures (Métailié, 1989), on the anti-colonial war in Africa. Her latest novel, Les Mémorables, follows a young journalist preparing a documentary on the 1974 Carnation revolution who reviews the revolution’s illusions and disillusions. Between history and personal intrigue, the author has given us a poetic novel about politics and democratic utopia from a bygone era.
