Diversity of voices, diversity of languages : one week of events and readings in Lyon and in the Rhône-Alpes region.
Discussion with Maylis de Kerangal
8 bis quai Saint-Vincent
Lyon 1er
Held in partnership with Erasme.
Laclasse.com is the digital working space of the middle schools in the Rhône department. The Erasmus center (the department’s Living Lab) hosts artists every year, thereby giving all the schools in the territory the benefit of their online presence. Maylis de Kerangal and 10 middle-school classes from the Rhône have been in residence at laclasse.com since last year. For the seventh edition of the International Forum of the Novel, Maylis de Kerangal, the Erasmus team and the Villa Gillet have imagined a collaborative literary game inspired by the surrealists’ exquisite corpse. Last fall, 250 middle school students started writing 11 short stories. As they’ve been writing, they’ve been reading A Journey to the Center of the Earth by Jules Verne: “a novel of exploration that confirms both the power of imagination and the role of documentation in a literary work inspired by science, the arts, the desire to discover new worlds, and other writings.” (Maylis de Kerangal)
