In partnership with laclasse.com and Erasme

Laclasse.com is the Digital Work Space for middle schools in the Rhône department and the Métropole de Lyon. The Centre Erasme, the digital-use laboratory of the Métropole de Lyon, hosts artists in its Digital Culture Classes, giving schools throughout the area the opportunity to conduct online projects through class meetings.

In connection with the 7th edition of the Forum on the Novel, Maylis de Kerangal and the Erasme and Villa Gillet teams have invented a collaborative literary game based on the Surrealists’ exquisite corpse writings. A similar literary adventure was conducted in 2014 with Léonora Miano.

This year, 260 middle school students (8th, 9th, and professional 9th grades) will write 11 short stories with Joy Sorman, author in residence on laclasse.com.

> The participating students will meet at Les Subsistances to talk about this literary-game adventure and to celebrate the publication of the short stories they wrote together. What adventures did the students have in store for the story’s main character? Once off the bus, how far will he follow the six women who came out of nowhere?

> To better follow the meeting, learn more about the project and read the short stories on line at air.laclasse.com

> Armed with your tablets and smartphones, download the short stories from the Les Subsistances bookstore using laclasseBox, or from www.villagillet.net

> On May 30 and 31, come play with words and write your exquisite corpse stories in Les Subsistances’s intimate, fablab writing workshop

> Free entrance. Ticketing opens on April 28th
