Siri Hustvedt was born in Northfield, Minnesota. She moved to New York in 1978 and earned a Ph.D. in literature from Columbia University. She was discovered in France with her first novel, Les Yeux bandés (1996), praised for its discreet, efficient writing, and her Tout ce que j’aimais (2003) was a huge international success. A regular contributor to Modern Painters magazine, she lives in Brooklyn. Her work is published in France by Actes Sud.
