MUSICIAN / AUTHOR / COMPOSER / PERFORMER
France
Arthur H became a musician at 16, when he went to study at the University of Boston. He writes contemporary French songs that create atmosphere but are concrete, that you can both dance and meditate to, and that use electronics as well as the waltz. After he won a Victoire de la Musique in 2009 for L’Homme du monde (Universal), in 2013 he released L'Or noir (Naïve), for which he set French-Caribbean poetry to music, then L'Or d'Éros, an anthology of eroticism and Surrealism. His latest opus, Soleil dedans (Universal, 2014) is "a solid piece of truant pop, both dark and exciting . . . with songs about the moon, the stars, sailing solo, airports, and finding happiness in the water" (Les Inrockuptibles).
