Writing is a solitary activity, not only in the way it’s done but in what it does: it brings out the writer’s inner self, her ability to see things in her own way. Part of a writer secedes, living separately from her peers in a world made of her creative power. But another part of even the most reclusive writers remains deeply attached. Because writing is also sharing, especially when it draws on the world that belongs to everyone.
