Timothée de Fombelle was born in 1973. First a professor of literature in France and Vietnam, he turned to dramaturgy and in 1990, creating a troupe for which he has written plays that he has directed. He hasn’t stopped writing for the theater since. His play, Le phare, written when he was eighteen, won the Prix du Souffleur (2002) and has been translated and performed in Russia, Lithuania, Poland, and Canada.
His first novel, Tobie Lolness, won numerous awards and international acclaim. Fombelle has been translated into twenty-five languages. He continues to write for children (Céleste, ma planète and Vango) and for the theater.
