Jakuta Alikavazovic was born in 1979 in Paris. A graduate of École normale supérieure de Cachan and agrégée in English, she has lived in the United States, Scotland and Italy. She is writing a dissertation on cabinets of curiosities and memory chambers. She participated in “5 mn avant l'aube“, a performance piece performed in the Doms garden during the 2006 Avignon festival. In 2004, she published two novels with the publisher L’Ecole des loisirs, which she considers a farewell to her own adolescence. In 2007, her first book for adults, a collection of short stories entitled Histoires contre nature, won the Fondation Lagardère writer’s scholarship and she published Corps volatils, which won the Goncourt Prize for a first novel in 2008.
