Biography
Franklin Bruno (pianist/musical director), in addition to his work with “Poor Baby Bree,” has released eighteen albums of original songs since the early 1990s. His most recent release, as leader of the Human Hearts, is Another (Shrimper Records). He is the author of a critical monograph on Elvis Costello’s Armed Forces, in Continuum Books’ 33 1/3 series, and a book of poems, The Accordion Repertoire (Edge Books). His scholarly and critical writing has appeared in Journal of Aesthetics and Art Criticism, Popular Music and Society, The Nation, The Believer, and two volumes of Da Capo’s Best Music Writing series. He holds a Ph.D. in Philosophy from UCLA, and has taught at Pomona College, Northwestern University, and Bard College.
