Born in 1952, Sorj Chalandon is a journalist and writer. An international correspondent then deputy editor-in-chief at Libération from 1973 to 2007, his articles on Northern Ireland and the Klaus Barbie trial earned him the Albert-Londres award in 1981. He has also published five novels with Grasset, including Une promesse, which received the Prix Medicis in 2006. He has written for Le Canard enchaîné since 2009.
Chalandon has also helped write Season 2 of the television series Reporters.
In 2011, he was awarded the Grand prix du roman by the Académie française for Retour à Killybegs.
